Elementary Classroom Teacher (K-3)
Position Purpose Under the general supervision of the School Director, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Functions
The Elementary Teacher develops and delivers curriculum, creating a safe and effective learning environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Instruction: Planning and adapting lessons for individual student needs, assessing progress, and utilizing varied instructional methods.
- Student Management: Maintaining student records, managing classroom behavior, and providing after-school support when necessary.
- Communication & Collaboration: Regularly communicating with parents and collaborating with colleagues and administration.
- Professional Growth: Staying current with educational developments and district/state testing requirements.
- Resource Management: Selecting and maintaining instructional materials.
Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.
Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Director, Curriculum Supervisor, Project Coordinator, and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, Smartboard and accessories, ipads, and telephone.
Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of Smartboard functions and tools.
- Knowledge of effective classroom management plans and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications Profile Certification/License:
- New Jersey State Certification, Elementary School Teacher Grades K-6 or Pre-K-3
Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education.
- Masters Degree in related area preferred.
Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.
