Position Title: Elementary Science Teacher
Summary: Under the general supervision of the School Director, to develop students' skills and competence in one or more fields of science, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, physics, and STEM education; develops students Engineering and Science practices, and problem-solving, as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical problems.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters preferred)
- New Jersey Certification (CE, CEAS) with subject matter specialization: Science or Teacher of Science
- Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of using various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, and learning/motivational techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation about performance and professional growth.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of grade-specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted during work: parents, students, faculty, etc.

Essential Performance Responsibilities (The following description illustrates tasks and responsibilities but is not meant to include every task or responsibility.)
The Science Teacher will:
The Science Teacher delivers instruction in subjects such as general science, biology, chemistry, and physics, aligned with district curriculum and NGSS standards. They foster critical thinking, maintain a safe and engaging classroom, and create hands-on lessons involving labs and experiments. Responsibilities include assessing student progress, adapting instruction for diverse learners, maintaining accurate records, and aligning lessons with testing requirements. The teacher communicates with parents, upholds behavior standards, collaborates with staff, participates in school activities, and manages classroom materials and equipment.
The STEM Science and Engineering teacher develops and delivers engaging, standards-based lessons that rotate each quarter, focusing on real-world applications through projects, experiments, and lab activities. They create sequential assignments that challenge students and maximize instructional time, while also teaching proper care and use of scientific equipment and materials. Additional duties may be assigned by the School Director or district leadership.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License: - For grades 4 & 5, NJ Certification (K - 6) with a Background and Strong Desire to teach Science. For grades 6-8, students must hold an NJ Certification with Subject Matter Specialization: Science or Teacher of Science.
Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Familiar with robotics tools and necessary computer software and platforms to teach programming, physical computing, and engineering design.
Travel Requirements: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
