Position Title: Art Teacher High School
Summary: The role of the Art Teacher is to
Compensation: Base $66,500, Experience $200 per year, Advanced Degree-Masters $3,000; PHD $5,000. Comprehensive Benefits: Health (Medical, Vision, Dental), Short Term Disability, AAE, & Pension.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required/Masters preferred.
- New Jersey Department of Education Certification CE, CEAS, Provisional, or Standard: Teacher of Art
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred.
- Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CEO finds appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:

Responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction aligned with curriculum standards, assessing student progress, and fostering a positive learning environment. This includes developing lesson plans, providing individualized support, managing classroom behavior, and communicating with parents. Also supervises students in and out of the classroom, ensuring a clean learning space.
This role involves continuous professional development, active participation in school planning and committees, and leveraging community resources to enrich learning. It requires upholding school policies and regulations. Specific to art instruction, the teacher guides students in art appreciation and creation, develops engaging lessons, selects materials, demonstrates techniques, evaluates progress, and organizes field trips (both in-person and virtual) and art exhibits. They also collaborate on student performances.
Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

Supervises: Students
Terms of Employment: Ten-month employee
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with New Jersey state law (Title 18A) and the provisions of the iLearn Schools policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
