DSP Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities and those in need of home and community care.
This role involves assisting clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a supportive environment. Prior experience similar roles or customer service roles is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalized care and support.
Duties
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients
- Light house-keeping
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Document the support provided during each shift
- Monitor client's health by observing vital signs and overall condition
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs
- Support clients during activities and outings within the community
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping and sanitation tasks
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Follow prescribed care plans for clients
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times to prevent accidents or injuries
Requirements
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working with clients
- Experience with, or willingness to learn file management in Google Drive
- Ability to assist with ADLs including feeding, bathing, dressing, and mobility assistance
- Physical ability to perform light to moderate lifting when necessary and assist with resident transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license may be preferred for community outings or appointments
Hiring timeline
It typically takes ORCHARDS 2-3 weeks to process and approve background checks. If you already have an approved ORCHARDS background check the results onboarding can be done within days.
Administrative role
We are looking for additional support with paperwork, state compliance, record keeping, and other office duties. This may be as a separate hourly rate or a higher rate for all hours depending on the agreed upon responsibilities and job structure.
We are specifically looking for people with a solid understanding of Google's office suite (namely Docs, Sheets, and Drive) and solid understating of Windows and Mac file management - or those with an aptitude and willingness to learn!

Expected hours: 15 – 37 per week
