THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0849000 and is part of the IL USPFO, National Guard.

Qualifications:

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:

  • The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
  • The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
  • The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
  • The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
  • The FIFTH area of consideration will be U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Enlisted, not to exceed rank of SSG.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07 Level - MUST possess specialized experience for the GS-07 Level, which includes 12 months at the lower-level GS-06, experience, education, or training in controlling supply stocks and accounting for equipment, cataloging, maintenance, and disposal procedures. Completing complex supply transactions; and/or providing supply operations support. Experience coordinating with other organizations on complex and controversial supply issues. Experience analyzing, developing, evaluating to improve supply programs, policies, procedures, techniques, etc. Knowledge on the entire inventory management supply system. Experience providing advice and guidance on supply regulations to upper levels of management regarding supply functions. GS-06 Level - MUST possess specialized experience for the GS-06 Level which includes 12-months at the lower-level GS-05, experience, education, or training which demonstrates knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions applicable to the specific assignment. Experience conducting searches for required information; reconstruct records for supply transactions; and/or provide supply operations support for activities involving specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts. Experience performing various aspects of supply specialist work based on practical knowledge of standard procedures, where assignments include individual case problems related to segments in one or more major areas of supply management. Experience which required person-to-person contacts to convey information and ability to compile reports, letters, memoranda, etc. GS-05 Level - MUST possess specialized experience for the GS-05 Level, which includes demonstrated knowledge of standardized supply regulations, policies, procedures, or other instructions relating to the specific functions assigned. Experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more automated supply databases to enter and retrieve recurring reports. Experience using working knowledge of the structure of a supply organization and the organizations serviced.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Responsibilities:

As a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-2005-5/6/7, you will provide storage and distribution, cataloging or supply identification systems, property utilization, or other related supply activities including those associated with automated or manual supply accounting systems.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
  • Perform routine and nonroutine material coordination duties for special programs, maintenance, or production shops.
  • Responsible for local management of decentralized and decontrolled items which requires technical intervention to assure effective supply support and economy.
  • Plans requirements, both quantitative and monetary, to satisfy customer needs.
  • Authorize procurement and is responsible for funds management.
  • Responsible for limited aspects of storage management.
  • Develop and install local procedures and techniques to achieve and maintain smooth, effective, and coordination storage operations.
