Il Buco Alimenteri & Vineria Pastry Department, a unique establishment that takes pride in its naturally leavened products and emphasizes organic and locally sourced ingredients, is seeking passionate pastry cook.Pastry cooks provide support to Executive Chef, Head Baker, and Pastry Chef. They are responsible for proper food storage, cleaning the preparation area, and making sure utensils and trays are clean and ready for use.If you have an organic understanding of pastry, fermentation, and laminated doughs ( breakfast pastries, crostatas, muffins, cookies, croissants, etc.) and are looking to gain practical skills, this is an excellent opportunity to assist in:Responsibilities include:Preparing ingredients for cooking - washing, measuring, slicing, peeling, roasting, and caramelizing.Setting up and breaking down the Pastry station each shift.Executing pastries with the highest standard of care and attentionStoring food safely.Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen thoroughly according to food safety standards.Assisting with baking under the direction of the departmentThe Ideal Pastry Assistant:Has passion for baking, pastries, ideology, and directionUnderstand DOH and OSHA standards and regulationsMeticulous attention to detail and a sense of urgency: Scaling, mixing, portioning, shaping, laminating, and baking a variety of dough; Knowledge and understanding of fermentation;Clear communication, time management, and organization skills-recognize the importance of professionalism and respect and exemplify this in interactions with workers alikeResponsible work ethic, with a focus on working independently and multi-tasking.Ability to lift 50 poundsFull-time, early morning flexibility.
