Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Chicago Heights, IL 60411Starting Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hourWe are hiring an experienced Maintenance Technician to support safe, reliable production equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who can troubleshoot quickly, work safely, and keep equipment running at its best.ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive maintenance and mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic repairs.Troubleshoot and repair conveyors, bagging and stacking equipment, check-weighers, case erectors, packaging equipment, and related production machinery.Test and repair 110/230/460-volt electrical equipment, including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring.Read and interpret electrical control schematics.Perform minor programming and troubleshooting of VFDs and PLCs.Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and help prepare equipment for production.Dismantle and reassemble equipment for repair, cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance.Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed.Follow lockout/tagout, ladder safety, food safety, quality, and personal protective equipment procedures.Communicate effectively with maintenance and production teams and assist with training when assigned.QualificationsAt least five years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance experience in food or regulated manufacturing.High school diploma or GED preferred.Experience reading electrical schematics and working with VFDs, PLCs, conveyors, packaging equipment, and industrial controls.Safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.Dependable, self-directed, safety-conscious, quality-focused, and able to work with limited supervision.Verbal and written communication skills sufficient to understand procedures and exchange accurate information.Essential FunctionsRemain standing or walking for extended periods and move throughout the facility to inspect and repair equipment.Position self by bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined or elevated areas.Use hands and fingers to operate, adjust, inspect, and control tools, electrical components, and machinery.Move, transport, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, including with a hand jack.Ascend and descend ladders and work platforms and work at approximately 25 to 30 feet using a man-lift, as authorized and trained.Detect equipment conditions, interpret instructions, and exchange accurate information with coworkers.Work EnvironmentWork is primarily indoors near production equipment, power tools, conveyors, packaging machinery, and elevated equipment. The role may involve refrigerated and frozen areas, hot or cold temperatures, distracting noise, cleaning and sanitation materials, bright or dim lighting, and awkward or cramped workspaces. Personal protective equipment and food safety procedures are required.ScheduleMonday-Friday during standard weekday hours. The schedule may vary by operational needs, and overtime may be available or required as permitted by applicable law.
