About the Role
Our client is seeking a Sales Manager (Strategic Sales Engagement) to lead business development activities, manage key accounts, and drive new sales opportunities in international logistics/shipping.
You will collaborate closely with global offices, operations teams, and business units to expand market share, retain clients, and execute cross-selling strategies.
Perfect for someone with experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, shipping sales, or customer support in logistics — motivated to own accounts, win tenders, and grow business.
Key Responsibilities
New Business Development
- Develop new business opportunities through global collaboration and client visits
- Research, prospect, and qualify potential clients
- Prepare & deliver proposals and presentations to close new business
- Lead tender activities within territory/industry market
- Handle sales leads from domestic/international branches
- Utilize CRM to manage pipeline, reporting, and audit performance
Existing Account Growth
- Maintain and expand business with existing clients
- Resolve sales/service issues with operation teams
- Prepare rate quotations, proposals, transport schedules
- Manage ad-hoc pricing requests and contract renewals
- Review profitability and drive cross-selling opportunities
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and relationship retention
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations to ensure service quality
- Coordinate shipments with carriers, warehouses, truckers
- Support credit setup, reports, and operational follow-ups
- Join joint sales activities with US/global offices
- Participate in events/networking to enhance brand presence
- Maintain accurate records of sales calls, presentations, and closed deals
Sales Management
- Meet annual regional/branch sales & P/L targets
- Develop SOPs for major accounts
- Join sales/BD meetings & multi-branch collaboration
- Submit regular sales reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 2 years in international logistics/shipping or sales assistant/customer service in logistics (5 years preferred)
- Strong communication & relationship management skills
- Proven ability in client hunting & account growth
- Organized, results-driven & adaptable in a fast-paced environment
- Able to manage budgets, travel expenses responsibly
- Travel up to 50%, including occasional off-hours work
Language
- English required
- Multilingual ability preferred (Japanese conversational skill is plus)
- Ability to create business documentation, proposals, and present to stakeholders
