Assistant Vice President, Fixed Income Analyst
U.S. subsidiary of a major Japanese insurance company
$140,000 – $160,000 (DOE)
Overview
We are seeking a Fixed Income Analyst (Assistant Vice President level) to join a U.S. subsidiary of a leading Japanese insurance group.
This role is responsible for analyzing and recommending investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds with the objective of outperforming benchmark indices. You will play a key role in credit research, financial modeling, and investment idea generation, working closely with Portfolio Managers and global teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental credit analysis, including advanced financial modeling
- Identify attractive investment opportunities across investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds
- Prepare detailed company and earnings reports (financial projections, valuation, recommendations)
- Present investment ideas to Portfolio Managers and provide strategic input on portfolio decisions
- Develop and maintain relationships with industry sources to generate new ideas
- Proactively gather and interpret market intelligence and macro trends
- Collaborate with global teams, including Tokyo, to contribute to a global investment perspective
- Provide timely and high-quality research to stakeholders across regions
- Support additional ad hoc research and analytical projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- MBA and/or CFA preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in credit analysis, fixed income, or asset management
- Experience on either buy-side or sell-side is welcome
- Strong capabilities in financial modeling, valuation, and relative value analysis
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced) and Bloomberg or similar tools
- Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to present and defend investment recommendations persuasively
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a collaborative global environment
- Adaptable and flexible team player
Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered at the Vice President level
