About the Role
The Fund P&L Analyst works with the Head of Product Control in producing daily P&L reporting and analysis for Rates and Credit trading desks, investigating and reconciling trade, position, and valuation discrepancies, and serving as a key control function supporting accurate financial reporting. This position reports to the Head of Product Control and supports portfolio oversight, financial controls, and continuous process improvement initiatives. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to enhance their knowledge of the various financial products that the firm trades and to become intimately familiar with hedge fund operations by working closely with many stakeholders in the firm including Trading, Fund Accounting, Middle Office, Technology, and Risk teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head of Product Control in producing and validating daily fund P&L.
- Reconcile daily positions and cash across counterparties and the fund administrator; investigate and resolve breaks in a timely manner.
- Work with the Head of Product Control to identify and escalate control gaps, valuation issues, and data setup errors, including incorrect instrument configuration, missing or stale market data.
- Partner with Technology to resolve data issues and drive automation across reconciliations, P&L, and reporting workflows.
- Communicate proactively with Traders and Quants to understand new trade structures, validate P&L drivers, and ensure the control framework keeps pace with evolving portfolio strategies.
- Work closely with Fund Accounting, Middle Office (Trade Support), and Operations teams; coordinate on trade capture issues, settlement breaks, corporate actions, and other events that impact fund P&L accuracy and timeliness.
- Assist with special projects, including P&L attribution, exception reporting, and dashboard development (Power BI).
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with and ability to quickly gain a solid understanding of the various financial products that the firm trades, including equity, CLOs, government bonds, corporate bonds, swaps, options, CDS, TRS, futures, and FX forwards.
- Strong analytical and quantitative aptitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly skilled at problem solving, with a logical and tenacious approach.
- Highly motivated, driven to succeed, and able to quickly adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Aptitude with technology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365.
Preferred Skills
- 2 years of experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, operations, product control, or a related investment management function. Recent graduates with relevant internships, coursework, or demonstrated interest in capital markets are encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of Advent Geneva.
- Experience with Power BI
- Familiarity with trade lifecycle processes, portfolio reconciliations, and P&L reporting.
- Interest in financial markets, portfolio analytics, and process automation.
