Job Summary
The RMDC Technician is responsible for remotely monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis. The RMDC Technician responds to alarms by logging and communicating the fault using CMMS software. The RMDC Technician assures that the plants are operating within their parameters while operating in a safe, efficient manner and in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
As part of the RMDC team, this role will provide diagostic and prognostic methods based on Supervisory Control and Data Acquistion (SCADA) and supporting system data to enable >98% operational availability of the deployed energy storage systems. The RMDC Technician will also work with the Global Services, Project Management, and Engineering teams to develop fault handling procedures, define and deploy the RMDC integration software to projects, and track system specific Key Performance Indicators and manage all customer and warranty related data reporting.
Job Functions
- Remotely monitor and diagnose plant and plant processes across the United States from our Corporate Office in Aliso Viejo, CA, where you will report to the IPSC ROC Manager.
- Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to the ITS Service Team Leader and make entries in the Operating Log.
- Develop and provide analysis tools and methods to acquire data, monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the performance of the fleet.
- Participate in the development of advanced diagnostic offerings that can enhance the product portfolio offered to customers.
- Participate in the development of diagnostic indicators of failure and system performance degradation for internal use and potential external product offerings.
- Generate reports on operational availability, energy delivery, and plant status utilizing data acquisition metrics.
- Participate in the creation of software tools to visualize and monitor field equipment.
- Participate in providing relevant training on the monitoring and diagnostic tools to field engineers and technicians assigned to monitor and maintain energy storage systems.
- Utilize various software suites to develop troubleshooting techniques and fault handling procedures to investigate and restore system faults.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis efforts, utilize operational data to define failure, investigate system and component data for fault signatures, and provide field data to validate implemented corrective actions.
- Participate in the integration of newly commissioned projects.
- Participate in customer interactions, providing a Subject Matter Expert perspective.

- Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment, typically acquired in four years of high school.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the business, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively with team members to achieve business KPIs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
- 5 years of data analytics experience preferred.
- Experience with Linux, Wireshark, Python/GoLang, SQLite, Bitbucket, Grafana, Prometheus, and GNU GDB toolchain is a bonus.
