Job Description: The Certified Physicist is responsible for the design optimization, technical evaluation, and precise and accurate delivery of radiation treatment plans under the guidance of the Administrative Director/Manager. The Certified Physicist collaborates with the Radiation Oncology Director and the Radiation Safety Officer to assure the maintenance of a quality management program and safety for all radiation oncology activities. St. George is in beautiful Southern Utah and boasts over 300 days of sunshine! The radiation oncology department also partners with the nearby CAMPEP-accredited UNLV Medical Physics program. You will have the opportunity to work with residents and help develop them as medical physicists. Scope The Intermountain Health Hospital System is seeking an ABR Certified or Board eligible Medical Physicist for an immediate opening in St George, Utah. The physicist will join a team of 4 physicians, 2 physicists and 3 dosimetrists that cover two sites in St George and Cedar City. The Hospitals are currently equipped with two Varian Truebeams, an iX which will be replaced with a TrueBeam this year, VisionRT SGRT, a Bravos HDR unit and a GE wide bore CT with gating capabilities. Active programs include frameless cranial SRS with HyperArc and Hypersight, SBRT, tattoo-free SGRT setup, gated treatments, HDR for gyn, prostates and skin. R&V and TPS provided by Aria and Eclipse v18 with GPU acceleration. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of radiation therapy physics services and support including, but not limited to, treatment planning and delivery, SRS, SBRT, IMRT/IGRT, equipment acceptance/commissioning, quality assurance, and chart checking. Tools for QA include a full suite of Sun Nuclear detector arrays, Varian Portal Dosimetry, Blue phantom and a full suite of Radformation products (ClearCheck, ClearCalc, RadMonteCarlo, AutoContour and RadMachine). We are seeking a candidate that is experienced and comfortable in a busy and varied clinical environment, puts patients first, enjoys supporting a team, but is comfortable working independently. The Radiation Oncology department is an ASTRO-APEX accredited radiation oncology program. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in health or medical physics from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Certification by one of the following: American Board of Radiology or American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics or Canadian College of Medical Physics.
