Maintains, installs, and repairs plumbing equipment. Provides for the reliable and safe operation of the hospital plumbing distribution system.
Education
Minimum: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
Preferred: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.
Credentials/Licensure
Minimum: A current plumber’s license
Preferred: A current plumber’s license
Related Experience
Minimum: One year plumbing experience
Preferred: Five or more years experience, hospital experience preferred

- Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and the test equipment specific to the field.
- Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.
- Assists in planning, installation, and maintenance of hospital water and drain systems
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
- Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
- Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems.
- Completes Daily Time Sheet in AIMS to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work done.
- Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and order as appropriate.
- Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to make sure the work they perform is appropriate and documented.
- Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small, sharp objects, or tools that may injure patients or visitors will be left out. Hallways and pathways will be free of debris, equipment, tools and liquid spills.
- Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and by soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
- Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
