What You'll Do
As an integral member of our oncology team, you will:
- Prepare exam rooms, infusion areas, and clinical supplies for patient visits.
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, health histories, medication lists, and allergy information.
- Assist physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff during patient visits and procedures.
- Coordinate patient flow to ensure a positive and efficient experience.
- Document clinical information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Process laboratory specimens and assist with diagnostic testing coordination.
- Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, referrals, and diagnostic services.
- Provide compassionate support and education to oncology and hematology patients and families.
- Answer patient calls, relay messages, and communicate effectively with providers and care teams.
- Ensure compliance with safety, infection prevention, HIPAA, and quality standards.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice, specialty clinic, oncology, infusion, or ambulatory setting preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Experience with Epic or other electronic medical records systems preferred.
- Ability to provide compassionate care to patients facing complex medical conditions.
