- Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely
- Strong customer service skills when interacting with hospital staff
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to typical maintenance standards
- Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends or on‑call as needed
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic HVAC/R systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and regulatory documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to interact professionally with hospital staff, patients, and vendors.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or adverse conditions.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fixtures (lighting, doors, plumbing, HVAC filters, etc.).
- Respond to basic maintenance requests from clinical and non-clinical departments in a timely manner.
- Assist senior mechanics with more complex repairs involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical support systems.
- Conduct minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, repairing wall fixtures, tightening hardware, and patching small surfaces.
- Inspect equipment and facilities to identify potential safety hazards or maintenance needs.
- Document all work performed in the hospital’s maintenance management system.
- Follow hospital safety protocols, including infection control, PPE use, and regulatory compliance.
- Support emergency response efforts such as power outages, equipment failures, or facility incidents.
- Maintain tools and work areas in clean, safe, and organized conditions.
