Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a skilled and compassionate Cardiac Echo Sonographer to join our cardiovascular team on a PRN (as needed) basis. In this role, you will perform inpatient, outpatient, and emergency echocardiographic procedures while utilizing advanced ultrasound technology to evaluate cardiac structure and function. You'll play a critical role in helping providers diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions.
What You'll Do
- Perform transthoracic echocardiograms for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients.
- Prepare patient charts and review prior echocardiogram, stress echo, and transesophageal echo studies for physician interpretation.
- Explain procedures, obtain patient history, and answer patient questions.
- Obtain accurate cardiac measurements and diagnostic images according to established protocols.
- Document patient information, complete charting, and ensure timely billing and reporting.
- Assist physicians during transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) and stress echo procedures.
- Maintain quality imaging standards and support positive patient experiences.
Required
Education
- Completion of a two- or three-year accredited program in diagnostic medical sonography, cardiovascular technology, radiologic technology, or a related healthcare field, or equivalent training and experience.
- Current CPR certification required
- One of the following certifications required, or registry eligible:
- ARDMS; RDCS; RCVT; RVT;ARRT
- Equivalent credential
- Registry-eligible candidates must obtain registry credentials within two years of hire.
- Previous echocardiography or cardiac ultrasound experience preferred. Candidates with strong clinical training and registry eligibility are encouraged to apply.
