Position Summary
The Consumer Lending Manager is responsible for the strategic direction, growth, and daily management of the consumer lending department, including indirect and direct auto loans, personal loans, and credit cards. This position ensures sound underwriting, regulatory compliance, portfolio performance, and an exceptional member experience. The Consumer Lending Manager leads and develops the lending team while driving loan growth, operational efficiency, and credit quality in alignment with the credit union’s mission and strategic goals. This position reports to the VP of Consumer Lending.
Key Responsibilities*
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop consumer lending team.
Provide and/or schedule ongoing training for staff to ensure adherence to policies/procedures and changes in systems.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and member-focused service.
Administer the LOS and other related systems used by the lending team (Sync1 Systems, Meridian Link, Keystone, Scout, Dealertrack TMS, etc.).
Loan Production & Growth
Assist in developing and executing strategies to grow consumer loan volume and market share.
Monitor application flow, funding ratios, and pipeline management.
Work closely with the indirect dealer representative to ensure optimized relationships.
Partner with marketing and branch leadership on loan promotions and campaigns.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve turnaround times.
Underwriting & Credit Quality
Continual review of underwriting to ensure consistency with policy and risk tolerance and then communicating findings to underwriters.
Review and approve loans within authority limits.
Monitor delinquency, charge-offs, and portfolio trends.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations (Truth in Lending, Fair Lending, ECOA, FCRA, SCRA, MLA, etc.).
Maintain adherence to internal policies and audit requirements.
Work closely with compliance and risk teams to address findings and implement corrective action when needed.
Member Experience
Ensure a seamless and efficient lending experience from application to funding.
Resolve escalated member concerns professionally and promptly.
Promote digital lending tools and alternative delivery channels.
Reporting & Strategy
Prepare and present consumer lending performance reports to senior management.
Analyze portfolio data to guide decision-making.
Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
Contribute to long-term strategic planning initiatives.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred. - 5 years of consumer lending experience preferred. - 3 years of supervisory or management experience preferred. - Experience in a credit union or community financial institution strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of consumer lending regulations and compliance requirements. - Ability to analyze loan portfolio performance and credit trends. - Demonstrated leadership and team development skills. - Strong decision-making and problem-solving ability. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Proficiency with loan origination systems, lending analytics tools, and Excel.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
