Duties
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling using aseptic technique to ensure safe and accurate specimen collection
- Collect, process, label, and transport specimens following established laboratory procedures and protocols
- Measure vital signs and assess patient condition to ensure comfort and safety during specimen collection
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, patient information, and specimen details in accordance with medical terminology standards
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive experience
- Adapt quickly to different clinical settings within hospitals or laboratories, supporting various departments as needed
- Follow all laboratory techniques and safety guidelines to uphold compliance with health regulations and quality standards
Requirements
- Proven laboratory experience with a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen handling
- Certified or trained in phlebotomy with demonstrated venipuncture skills (blood sampling)
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and hospital protocols related to patient care and specimen collection
- Prior clinical laboratory or hospital experience preferred; familiarity with blood sampling equipment and aseptic technique essential
- Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams
- Flexibility to work across different shifts or locations as part of a floating team ensuring coverage where needed
