What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations & Sales Lead – Boston position at IgnitionSystems.io?
Operations & Sales Lead – Boston
Build the sales machine for a profitable AI SaaS scaling from startup to growth mode!
The Company
Ignition Systems (ai.ignitionsystems.io) is an AI-powered lead automation platform for professional services firms. We've proven product-market fit with law firms, where thousands of inquiries are processed across WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Facebook messages, email, and web forms.
Our platform consolidates all channels into one intelligent hub with instant AI responses, lead scoring (1-5 intent scale), automated nurturing sequences, and direct CRM integration (Clio, HubSpot, GoHighLevel).
Result: Our clients double their paid consultations without adding headcount.
The Traction
- 20 mid sized law firms in pipeline with 40% already signed as clients
- Recently closed angel round at $3.5M valuation
- Aggressive growth targets: $70K MRR by Christmas, $200K MRR by Q1 2025
- 45% reply rate on "dead" lead revival campaigns
- 50% close rate on qualified demos
- Preparing for Series A raise in Q1 2025
The Role
You're my first operational hire and will become my right hand as we scale from startup to growth mode.
Initially, you'll own operations end-to-end while learning our sales playbook.
As we grow, you'll build and lead the sales team while keeping operations humming.
What You'll Own
Operations (Immediate)
- Manage daily operations: 2 VAs (outreach) 1 engineer (implementation) 2 Sales reps
- Oversee client onboarding (2-4 week implementations from close to go-live)
- Handle support escalations and platform stability
- Optimize our lean operation and maintain operational excellence
Sales Development (Months 2-3)
- Master our proven outbound system (prospect audits → personalized outreach → demo → close)
- Execute outreach campaigns: 20 replies/week, 15 discovery calls/month
- Refine sales materials, demo scripts, and objection handling
- Support me on major deals (we have discovery calls with six-figure potential contracts queued)
Sales Leadership (Months 4-6)
- Recruit, train, and manage outbound sales team
- Scale our playbook: hiring SDRs, building territories, setting quotas
- Drive pipeline velocity through 4-6 week sales cycles
- Own team metrics and revenue targets as we push toward Series A
Who You Are
Required
- 3 years in operations or sales at an early-stage SaaS company (pre-Series A experience critical)
- You've worn multiple hats and thrived in scrappy, fast-moving environments
- Experience managing small teams or contractors
- Comfortable with sales operations: CRM hygiene, funnel metrics, pipeline management
- Boston-based (in office 3 days/week minimum)
Ideal
- You've built or scaled an outbound sales team from scratch
- Experience in legal tech, professional services, or high-touch B2B SaaS
- You've run ops for a founder who was also the primary closer
- Conference/event follow-up experience (we're building this channel)
What We're Looking For (Culture)
This isn't a VP role with a big team on day one. This is: "I'll do whatever it takes to help us win." You'll be in the trenches with me, handling support tickets one day, jumping on a $100K prospect call the next, then training a new sales rep on Friday.
You need to be comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and being the person who figures it out when something breaks. But you also need the strategic chops to build systems that scale beyond you.
Compensation & Equity
- Base: $70K–$110K (based on experience, Boston market rate)
- Equity: 1.0–1.5% (4-year vest, 6-month cliff)
- Performance bonuses: Uncapped upside tied to team milestones (pipeline growth, MRR targets)
- Benefits: Health insurance, PTO, conference budget
- Reporting: Directly to me (founder/CEO)
The Opportunity
We're at the inflection point: proven product, paying customers, angel backing, and a clear path to scale.
We need someone who can take operations off my plate so I can focus on closing big deals and strategic partnerships, then scale into leading our sales team as we expand.
You'll have equity, autonomy, and a front-row seat to building a category-defining AI company in legal tech. If you've been waiting for the right early-stage opportunity where your impact is measured in revenue growth, not slide decks, this is it.
