Job Summary

Join our dedicated mental health team as a Mobile Crisis Counselor, where you will play a vital role in providing immediate, compassionate support to individuals experiencing mental health crises in their community settings. This dynamic position involves delivering crisis intervention, conducting mental health assessments, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic techniques to stabilize and connect clients with ongoing care. As a Mobile Crisis Counselor, you will be instrumental in de-escalating high-risk situations, ensuring patient safety, and promoting recovery through personalized, client-centered care. Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to crisis calls and mobile dispatches to assess client needs on-site or remotely.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments utilizing DSM-5 criteria and clinical documentation standards.
  • Implement crisis management strategies using de-escalation techniques and behavioral therapy methods to ensure safety for clients and staff.
  • Provide immediate interventions such as psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, grief counseling, and behavioral health support tailored to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and community resources to develop personalized care plans and facilitate case management.
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) including medical documentation, patient assessments, and progress notes while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Identify risk factors through crisis intervention risk assessments and coordinate appropriate follow-up services for high-risk populations.

Experience

  • Proven experience in clinical counseling or mental health crisis intervention within home & community care settings or hospitals.
  • Strong background in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and trauma-informed care including PTSD care.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Familiarity with crisis triage procedures, psychiatric patient care, and working with individuals with substance use disorders or co-occurring conditions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and electronic health record management systems.
  • Ability to perform mental health assessments using DSM-5 criteria while maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
  • Demonstrated skill in crisis de-escalation techniques, risk assessment protocols, and behavioral management strategies for high-risk populations.
