Low Voltage Technician – Mission Critical SystemsPosition Summary

The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low-voltage systems within mission-critical facilities, including data centers, healthcare facilities, commercial buildings, and industrial environments. This position requires experience with Life Safety Systems (LSS), fire alarm systems, audio/visual systems, structured cabling, and other critical infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
  • Install and support Life Safety Systems (LSS), including fire alarm devices, notification appliances, and control panels.
  • Install and commission audio/visual systems, including speakers, microphones, displays, amplifiers, and control equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, one-line diagrams, floor plans, and project specifications.
  • Perform cable routing through conduit, cable trays, J-hooks, and ladder racks.
  • Conduct cable certification, continuity testing, and system verification using industry-standard test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage systems and resolve installation or operational issues.
  • Maintain accurate as-built drawings, test reports, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure project schedules and quality standards are met.
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations, NEC requirements, NFPA codes, and customer-specific standards for mission-critical environments.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and secure work areas while protecting sensitive equipment and operational facilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience installing low-voltage systems.
  • Experience working in mission-critical environments such as data centers, hospitals, or secure facilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), fire alarm systems, audio/visual systems, and low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction documents.
  • Experience using cable certification testers, fiber testing equipment, and hand tools.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Manufacturer certifications (BICSI, NICET, or fire alarm certifications) are a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms.
  • Bend, kneel, crawl, and stand for extended periods.
  • Work in active construction sites and mission-critical operational facilities.

Preferred Experience

Experience with mission-critical facilities, including data centers, network infrastructure, access control, CCTV, nurse call systems, and integrated building technologies is highly desirable.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
