We are looking for a teaching assistant in a grade 3 and 4 mixed level classroom to support the lead classroom teacher in providing a rich and nurturing classroom environment for students in the classroom. The teacher assistant plays a crucial role in creating and encouraging a positive classroom environment, engaging in shared interactions with students and the lead teacher, interacting with students through small-group lessons and one-on-one interventions, and providing instructional and behavioral support in the classroom.
Requirements ( suggested not mandatory ):
- Experience working with young children
- Experience as an assistant teacher of children
- Must have effective and strong communication skills
- Must be willing to work flexible hours in order to meet the needs of the program
- An understanding of the Montessori educational philosophy
- Creativity
- Multitasking
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist head teacher in maintaining the Montessori curriculum, project based and blended learning
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of classroom during the school year
- Maintain order and cleanliness of classroom environment daily
- Work with head teacher to learn about philosophy of Montessori to further understand the goals of the class and the school
- Supervise children on the playground and in the classroom
- Observation
- Assist head teacher in preparation for parent conferences
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
