What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Ignite Education Group?
Would you like to teach in a setting where you can improve students’ learning, promote their resilience and confidence, and make a genuine difference? Ignite Achievement Academy is a private, accredited school serving students in grades K-12 with special needs and learning differences.
As a substitute classroom teacher, you will deliver instruction to each child in the classroom in alignment with their instructional plan. Each classroom consists of approximately five to seven students who receive a mixture of whole-group instruction and small-group instruction based on their unique learning needs. Our substitute teachers receive training upon hire so they are equipped to work in our unique environment to cover for teacher absences throughout the school year. The curriculum and class structure is very detailed so you will have all of the information needed to succeed! The Substitute Teacher will follow lesson plans, implement behavioral supports, and foster an inclusive environment that promotes learning and student success. In some cases, a Teacher Assistant will be present in the classroom to provide additional support and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher to ensure continuity of instruction;
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning;
- Manage classroom behavior in a respectful manner;
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration;
- Provide feedback to the classroom teacher regarding student performance and any issues that arose during their absence;
- Adhere to all school policies and procedures.
- Supervise students in the classroom, during transitions, and in common areas to ensure safety.
- Accurately document and communicate any notable student progress, concerns, or incidents to the appropriate staff.
- Demonstrate respect, empathy, and patience when interacting with students, families, and staff.

Requirements:Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree required (or equivalent relevant experience like time spent working as an RBT);
- Previous experience working with children with disabilities (autism, developmental delays, learning differences, or related needs)
- Possess a passionate belief that all students are capable of success and learn in unique ways;
- Strong classroom management skills;
- Ability to adapt to different teaching environments and grade levels;
- Ability to follow lessons plans and instructions accordingly;
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes in schedule, environment, or student needs;
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior substitute or teaching experience
Work Environment:
- School setting with frequent interaction with students, staff, and families;
- May require some lifting or assisting students - possess the ability to lift 50 lbs;
- Position is on-call and may require short-notice availability.
