IGNACIO SCHOOL DISTRICT ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL/ATHLETIC-ACTIVITY DIRECTOR
The Assistant Principal/Athletic-Activity Director assists the principal in providing school-wide leadership, evaluates personnel, supports the Dean of Students with discipline issues, learns the role of principal and acts as Principal of the school in the absence of the regular Principal. This position runs the activities and Athletic Programs. Also, supervises staff members, coaches and athletic events
QUALIFICATIONS Administrative License or actively engaged in an approved Licensure program. Knowledge of Colorado School Law Three years of successful teaching and coaching experience Demonstrated administrative skills Excellent verbal and written skills Strong computer and technology skills Strong Knowledge of 21st Century educational environment and curriculum Ability to work effectively with students, coaches, teachers, parents, ethnic groups and other administrators Have a keen interest in athletics and an understanding of ethical conduct, psychology of coaching, financial planning, operational planning and public relations skills
RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
2. Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal.
3. Supervises and evaluates staff
4. Participates, with the principal, in developing yearly school goals, developing new programs, and modifying, and evaluating existing programs.
5. Assists the principal in preparation of school regulations and policies.
6. Attends school-sponsored activities.
7. Reports any maintenance issues, operation, and safety of the building to the Maintenance Director.
8. Requisitions supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conducts inventories; maintains records; and checks on receipts for such material in collaboration with the office manager.
9. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with attendance supervisor and/or social worker for follow-up actions.
10. Performs any other duties assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF ATHLETIC-ACTIVITY DIRECTOR
1. The Athletic Director will provide an articulated 6-12 interscholastic athletic program.
2. Cooperates with the coach involved to schedule contests, works with the Transportation Director to develop trip itinerary, provides travel accommodations, selects and contracts officials and make arrangements for conducting interscholastic contests in all sports.
3. Organizes a training program for athletes in all sports.
4. Keeps a record of the results of athletic contests and individuals who participated therein.
5. Provides the Colorado High School Activities Association and the principal with a list of participants in each sport.
6. Coordinates awards and the awards banquet, making sure that all names are listed and given credit for sports they participated in.
7. Provides school personnel for supervision at all activities. Duties will be shared by other administrative personnel. The Director will develop a schedule for supervision.
8. Evaluates all athletic programs on an annual basis. Provides a program for repair, maintenance and upkeep of athletic equipment and facilities and improvements to the building principal and district administrator.
9. Completes an evaluation form and hold a conference with all head coaches within three weeks after the conclusion of their sport season.
10. Attends all league meetings or sends a representative.
11. Coordinates gym use for practices and games and gives final clearance for the use of either the gym, the athletic fields or auditorium. Coordinates the use of all athletic facilities and auditorium by groups outside the school with the respective building principal.
12. Makes all coaching recommendations in a timely manner. Provides and updates job descriptions for each coaching position. Together with head coaches recommends assistants in 6-12 programs.
13. Meets with coaches and reviews Coaches Handbook and athletic budgets.
14. Assists with or monitor the calendar of school activities and school website in conjunction with the principal, faculty and student body.
15. Mediates the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise between coaches and athletic programs.
16. Coordinates with coaches, class sponsors, and other groups who want to raise money in the concession booths at all athletic games giving all interested groups equal opportunity. The Director has the final decision.
17. Collects gate/door money at all games and tournaments. Money collected will be turned into the athletic director/administrator to be secured.
SUPERVISES:Coaches and athletic events the site principal or designee/Superintendent.
REPORTS TO: School Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 195 days. As per Athletic Director salary schedule. Additional per diem when traveling.
Salary : $70,250 - $81,050
