PURPOSE OF THE JOB The purpose of the Data Modeler II is to provide expertise in data modeling concepts and modern cloud data platforms, particularly AWS, Snowflake, and DBT. This role will be instrumental in designing and optimizing data models that support actuarial analysis, policy processing, claims processing, underwriting, compliance reporting, and overall business intelligence needs specific to the insurance industry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Designs and implements scalable data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) tailored for Workers Compensation Insurance data such as claims, policies, premiums, exposures, and provider networks. Builds and maintains data pipelines using DBT to transform raw insurance-related data into structured formats within Snowflake. Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements and develops fit-for-purpose data models. Ensures compliance with industry regulations and internal data governance standards, particularly around personally identifiable information (PII) and claim-sensitive data. Documents models and data transformations to support audit trails, lineage tracking, and regulatory reporting. Defines and enforces data models standard, naming conventions, and best practices to maintain data consistency and quality. Works closely with cross-functional teams to understand strategic objectives and translate them into data-driven solutions. Participates in the testing and validation of data models. Identifies and resolves data modeling issues and provides recommendations for improvements. Stays abreast of the latest data modeling techniques and technologies. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have supervisory responsibility. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Actuarial Science or related field. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum 3 years of experience in data modeling and architecture, ideally in the insurance or financial services industry. Prior experience in Agile/Scrum or SAFe Agile environments is preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Technical certifications relevant to AWS and/or data modeling are preferred. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including schema design and performance optimization. Experience with AWS services and Data Modeling tools. Strong understanding of insurance-specific data types and regulatory considerations. Excellent SQL skills and knowledge of data warehousing concepts Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently will sit, stand, walk, and bend during working hours. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. May be required to lift light objects. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing corrected to a normal range. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment. We are currently not offering employment sponsorship for this opportunity. #LI-TM1 #LI-HYBRID The current range for this position is $83,017.13 - $140,002.70 This range is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors unique to each candidate, including experience, education and the location of the role and considers employees performing substantially similar work.
