This transformation involves a pivot to a more agile, regionally focused operating model, ensuring greater responsiveness to market dynamics and consumer needs.

This role reports into the Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO), with a dotted line reporting relationship to the CCO of IG Group’s US Division.

About The Opportunity

Our US North American operations represent a key growth market as we expand our product offerings and market presence across American exchanges and OTC markets. The US division now requires sophisticated risk management expertise to support this growth trajectory while navigating our complex product portfolio and the US regulatory environment. This position offers the unique chance to build-out IG NA’s second-line risk capability to support the business in driving sustainable growth at pace.

What You'll Do

Risk Framework Development & Implementation

• Oversee the implementation and embedding of IG Group’s enterprise risk management framework within IG’s US operations, including ensuring the framework is appropriately tailored to US operations and applicable regulatory requirements
• Monitor IG NA’s risk management processes (across all areas of operational risk and financial risk) to ensure IG NA’s risk profile remains within IG Group’s overall risk appetite, supported by an appropriate framework of systems and controls.
• Ensure all material risk issues, including any material control deficiencies, are identified and escalated in a timely manner and are tracked through to completion. This includes providing independent challenge to the business on first-line remediation plans and timing.
• Support NA and Group Governance forums discharge their risk oversight responsibilities, including through the production of relevant risk reporting. This includes Chairing the local risk management forum and escalating issues to the Group Risk Committee where appropriate.
• Support IG NA’s response to any regulatory enquiries or supervisory visits relating to IG NA’s risk management systems and controls.
• Collaborate with the IG NA Chief Compliance Officer to ensure an integrated second-line of defence within the US business.
  
  

Strategic Business Partnership

• Serve as a trusted and independent commercial advisor to the US CEO and local senior leadership team to support the integration of risk considerations into strategic planning and business development initiatives
• Provide independent review and challenge to the US management team in relation to all risk management activity, including in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of IG NA’s material risks.
• Provide risk expertise and guidance to support business growth while maintaining appropriate risk appetite
• Support potential M&A activities with comprehensive risk assessment and integration planning
• Partner directly with trading teams to embed risk management best practices, providing expert guidance and constructive challenge on commercial risks
  
  

Professional Experience

What you'll need for this role

• Extensive experience with US exchange markets (NYSE, NASDAQ, derivatives exchanges) and options trading
• Experience in implementing, embedding and operating enterprise risk management frameworks effectively
• Strong background in financial technology platforms and trading systems
• Demonstrated understanding of IG's product offering and experience with a range of financial products
• Experience operating in global matrix organisations
• Experience with product-specific risk management
• Demonstrated success in building risk management capabilities from the ground up
  
  

Skills And Attributes

• Professional certifications (CFA, FRM, PRM) strongly preferred
• Proven leadership skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to challenge and guide sophisticated trading professionals
