As a premier fuel and hydraulic tank producer, The IFH Group, Inc. is a growing company and destination employer for professionals and skilled experts.  Welder III reports directly to the Night Shift Supervisor while performing advanced welding skills and fabrication techniques with standards of excellence.  This advanced role is a senior peer responsible for supporting the Night Shift Supervisor by training and mentoring other team members.  This full-time Welder III position is 100% on-site in Rock Falls, Illinois, and eligible for insurance benefits on the 1st day of the month following date of hire.  Work schedule is Sunday through Wednesday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Performs advanced welding skills and fabrication techniques specific to tank construction, bead size, and other specifications with standards of excellence for safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, and accuracy.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics, to perform MIG and TIG weldments and/or fixtures.
• Takes and uses accurate measurements to perform weldments according to specifications.
• Examines welds for appropriate bead size and other specifications.
• Records time accurately to customer jobs by utilizing the ERP system.
• Operates and uses overhead hoist (with crane) and rigging techniques to safely and properly lift and maneuver tanks.
• Operates powered industrial trucks including motorized pallet jacks.
• Supports team to consistently deliver operational effectiveness with standards of excellence.
• Fosters culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Leads by example and prioritizes safety and compliance such as completing training requirements timely and wearing personal protective equipment.
• Trains and mentors team members with an approachable demeanor.
• Performs other relevant duties, tasks, assignments, and projects, upon request or as business needs require.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The information below describes physical activities and surroundings an individual may encounter while performing primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position. Physical Demands: Constant standing with repetitious hand and finger movements to use and operate welding gun, hand and power tools, welding and brazing equipment, torches, and shields; detect, perceive, identify, observe, inspect, and assess fabrication and welding operations; express and exchange information in-person. Constant moving/traversing and positioning self to reach overhead and at or below the shoulder; move and position objects up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment: Constantly works in manufacturing setting on the shop floor with exposure to fluctuating temperatures and noise levels at or above 100 decibels on average. Working on the shop floor requires safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear with metatarsal guard. Welding requires additional personal protective equipment including gloves, weld jacket/sleeves, weld hood, and face shield.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree or certificate from accredited academic institution in welding highly preferred.
• Three (3) years’ previous experience with machine/metal fabrication, MIG welding, and/or TIG welding required.
