Job Title: Software Development Engineer

Location: Onsite: Redmond, WA

Contract on W2

Duration: 18 months

Typical Day in the Role

• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is to manage Windows audio system certification tests for industry partners (IHVs and OEMs) to ensure compatibility with Windows and improve test content and debugging tools.

• Key projects: This role will contribute to the ongoing release of Windows 11 operating system and certification efforts for audio hardware and device drivers.

Candidate Requirements

• Disqualifiers: Candidates without the required degree or lacking strong C and debugging experience will not be eligible for the role.

• Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain advanced debugging experience on Windows and direct experience with audio or media technologies in addition to the core hard skills.

Hard Skills Assessments

• Expected Dates that Hard Skills Assessments will be scheduled: First round of candidates will be shortlisted by January 13, and assessments will follow shortly after

• Hard Skills Assessment Process: The assessment process will include a Teams phone call (audio only, no video) conducted by the hiring manager, similar to a formal technical interview.

• Required Candidate Preparation: Candidates should have their technical knowledge ready for coding and debugging discussions; no additional preparation beyond standard interview readiness was specified.

Top Skills:

Minimum 3 years' experience with C programming.

Minimum 3 years' experience with Windows device driver development.

Minimum 4 years' experience with advanced debugging on Windows.

Summary:

The main function of a Software Engineer is to design, develop, implement, test, and maintain business and computer applications software or specialized utility programs including mainframe and client/server applications, and major enhancement of existing systems

Job Responsibilities:

• Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects

• Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions to meet client needs and data

• Analyze and review enhancement requests and specifications

• Implement system software and customize client requirements

• Prepare the detailed software specifications and test plans

• Code new programs to client’s specifications and create test data for testing

• Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs

• Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation

• Provide quality assurance reviews

• Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required

• 5-7 year’s experience required

• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design

• large systems software design and development experience

• Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems

• Experience in programming and experience with problem diagnosis and resolution

• 3 years of C programming experience
