The Global Materials Manager is a strategic operational leader responsible for ensuring the availability, flow, and optimization of materials across the supply chain. This role drives the supply plan within the S&OP process, manages key operational metrics, and ensures the team meets service, inventory, and operational efficiency goals. They execute strategic continuous improvement initiatives while focusing on the day-to-day operational excellence of materials management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Continually monitor and assess trends affecting IEWC’s Sourcing and Materials strategies.
- Champion the S&OP process. Review product activities, demand plans, supply plans, performance metrics. Work with functions to develop top level business demand intelligence. Communicate supply changes to global functions. Prepare and deliver presentations on a regular basis.
- Own the supply plan within the S&OP process, ensuring alignment with demand forecasts, production capacity, and inventory policies. Monitor and drive key supply metrics including inventory turns, stock levels, service levels, and working capital.
- Ensure efficient and cost-effective material movements across facilities, manage inventory investment, and mitigate supply disruptions.
- Establish and maintain standardized materials management practices, leveraging data insights and collaborative inputs. Drive desk efficiencies and operational automation opportunities.
- Provide thought leadership in bringing solutions through process improvement, best practices, tools, and technology that will continue to set IEWC apart from its competition.
- Promote process excellence, continuous improvement, and identify best practices globally.
- Create a sound Global Materials Management strategic plan that supports market vertical business plans.
- Work collaboratively with all Divisions and Functions to ensure their business success.
- Lead supplier relationships and manage supplier performance to ensure great supplier and customer experience
- Collaborate across all IEWC’s Divisional and Corporate Unit activities to develop and support the goals, objectives and forward plan of the Company.
- Prioritize activities and the allocation of resources in, balancing the short-term interests and the long-term interests.
- Effectively create and support process enhancement initiatives to maintain an environment of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Balance empowerment of all employees with appropriate controls.
- Provide leadership, coaching, guidance, and direct daily operations of a team of materials management professionals to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.
- Empower team members to resolve issues by delegating tasks to the appropriate level.
- Ensure every department team member is partnering effectively with sales to balance off the needs of the customer, the supplier and IEWC.
- Ensure working knowledge of differences between divisional roles & responsibilities and corporate roles & responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or Experience: A bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field and 5 years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
- Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations: A valid driver’s license and an ability to obtain a valid passport.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and get to the root cause. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and business information and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Computer Applications Skills: Ability to work in a Windows environment. Possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel—Pivot Tables and formula calculations, PowerPoint and Word. SAP experience is preferred.
- Excellent and polished communication and collaboration skills; able to coordinate across multiple functions throughout all levels of the organization.
