Mechanical Engineer/Technician
Due to continued growth, IES Systems, Inc has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer/Technician. This position is focused on the Safety of Machinery, including safety systems and functions for mechanical and electrical hazards. This position will analyze and design machinery safety guarding, fixturing, and other safety-related equipment. Systems may require assembly, installation or modification. Ability to work independently at remote locations is essential.

Location: Canfield, OH 44406
Job Duties to Include:
- Design of mechanical machinery safety elements including fixtures, guarding, safety interlocks, enclosures, and other related equipment.
- Produce outline and detail drawings
- Assist with fabrication and assembly
- Common applications include Fencing, Interlocking Switches, Light Curtains, Safety Mats, and other systems.
- Design Control Enclosures related to Safety Applications, including panel layout.
- Evaluate and document safety systems both in-house and at customer facilities in a manufacturing environment.
- Assist with or generate Risk Assessments, Validations, Machine Manuals and other information per ISO/IEC/ANSI standards.
- Support proposal engineers & manufacturing personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years working experience with machinery design and test.
- Experience in working with IEC/ISO/ANSI machine safety standards
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Strong understanding of machine safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting application.
- Capable of independent work.
- Hands-on individual with ability to fabricate or assemble onsite as needed.
- Ability to travel (20%), and visit customer plants, domestic and international, complying with customer work and safety rules as required.
Preference given to candidates with:
- Training and experience in Machinery Safety and Systems
- Exposure to ISO12100, ISO13849-1, ANSI B11.19, and other related standards.
