Are you an experienced Spanish educator who takes pride in running a structured, high-performing middle school classroom?

IES Language Foundation is seeking a skilled and self-directed teacher to lead a Grades 6–8 Spanish program at a respected Catholic school in Belmont, California.

This role is best suited for educators who are confident in their practice, value strong classroom culture, and can deliver consistent, engaging instruction with clear expectations and accountability.

Notre Dame Elementary School in Belmont is a faith-centered Catholic school serving Preschool through 8th grade. Inspired by the philosophy of St. Julie Billiart, the school emphasizes academic rigor, character development, and service.

Position Details

  • Location: Belmont, Ca.
  • Schedule: Wednesdays AND Fridays ( 2 days) from 11:00-3:00 pm
  • Hours: 10 hours per week, this includes preparation time (Grades 6–8 only)
  • Start Date: Fall 2026
  • Program Type: In-School

Role Expectations

  • Lead a well-structured middle school Spanish program (Grades 6–8)
  • Deliver instruction that is engaging, academically purposeful, and well-paced
  • Maintain clear routines, transitions, and behavioral expectations
  • Apply strong classroom management strategies to ensure a focused learning environment
  • Hold students accountable for participation, effort, and respectful conduct
  • Adapt instruction to meet varied proficiency levels without lowering rigor
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and IES as needed

Program Structure & Support

  • Established middle school curriculum with pacing guidance
  • Instructional resources provided by IES and ongoing support
  • Optional coaching support and Professional Development as needed

Teachers are given structure—but are expected to execute independently and professionally.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching K–8 students
  • Minimum 1* year of experience teaching Middle School Spanish*
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
  • Demonstrated ability to:
  • Independently manage a middle school classroom with consistency and control
  • Maintain high levels of student engagement and on-task behavior
  • Implement effective classroom management systems
  • Plan and deliver structured, well-executed lessons
  • Strong professional judgment, reliability, and accountability
  • Reliable transportation OR willingness to relocate

Preferred (Strongly Valued)

  • Direct experience teaching middle school (Grades 6–8)
  • Experience in private or Catholic school settings ideal, but not required
  • Ability to balance high expectations with positive student relationships
  • Familiarity with communicative or immersion-based instruction

Compensation: $35 per hour
