What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Internal Auditor II position at IES Holdings, Inc.?
Staff Internal Auditor II assists with the overall SOX compliance program involving the assessment of internal controls over financial reporting. The individual should be able to demonstrate the ability to function on an independent basis as well as in a team environment. The applicant should be able to meet deadlines while supporting multiple priorities. The successful candidate should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills as the individual will interact with operating and financial personnel.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Under direction of Internal Audit Management, the candidate’s, responsibilities, at a minimum, include:
- Assist in the completion of the annual SOX project, which includes involvement with i) Walkthroughs ii) Update process documentation, iii) perform testing and iv) development and tracking of action plans to remediate any noted control exceptions
- Build and maintain influential working relationships with management, team members, as well as with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop an understanding of the business
- Assist in providing support to external auditors on internal audit work for SOX compliance and the financial statement audit
- Perform other duties as assigned
Specific Qualifications
Required Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Professional certification (CPA, CIA, CFE, or CISA) or parts passed preferred
- Minimum of 1 – 2 years of SOX and/or Risk Based Internal Audit experience in Public Accounting firm or related internal audit experience in a public company
Required Attributes:
- Sarbanes-Oxley act (SOX), 404
- Understanding of internal auditing standards, COSO 2013
- Experience and/or knowledge of Percentage of Completion (POC) Accounting a plus
- US Generally Accepted Accounting principles (US GAAP)
- General Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
- Work independently, with limited direction and guidance, as well as work in a team environment.
- Work on multiple projects and effectively manage time to ensure assignments are completed in the established time frame
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to effectively present to peers and management
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite Products (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Team-oriented, with an ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Regular attendance is mandatory
- Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners
