Associate Project Manager – Security Systems

IES Communications is looking for an Associate Project Manager to support the delivery of commercial security and technology projects. This role is ideal for someone with experience in electronic security, access control, CCTV/video surveillance, structured cabling, telecommunications, or low-voltage construction who is ready to take the next step in their career.
You’ll work alongside Project Managers, technicians, customers, vendors, and subcontractors to help coordinate projects from planning through installation and completion.
What You’ll Do
- Support the planning and execution of commercial security and low-voltage projects
- Coordinate with customers, technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, materials, purchasing, and documentation
- Review construction drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and project requirements
- Support projects involving access control, CCTV/video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercoms, and integrated security systems
- Track project progress, costs, change orders, and deliverables
- Assist with system commissioning, troubleshooting, and resolving field issues
- Participate in customer and project meetings
- Help ensure projects meet quality, safety, schedule, and customer expectations
- Support project closeout and customer turnover
- Identify opportunities to improve project processes and efficiency
What We’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, construction, security systems, low-voltage, telecommunications, or a related field
- Familiarity with access control, CCTV/video surveillance, or electronic security systems
- Understanding of basic networking concepts such as IP, Ethernet, PoE, and network connectivity
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documents
- Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams
- Construction, project management, ERP, CRM, or ticketing software experience is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively with both field and office teams
- Willingness to travel to customer and project sites as needed
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, business, engineering, IT, or a related field preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

- Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and lead others to create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).

- Must have proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s).
- Must be able to diagnose and fix problems with existing equipment and new installs.
- Must be enthusiastic, passionate, patient and a critical thinker.
- Must be able to communicate with the customer and have excellent customer service skills.
- Must have proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:
- Must have at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Will have some experience with construction/low-voltage.
- Must be able to work well with other people.
- Prefer experience working with Bluebeam software.
- Prefer experience working with Primavera P6 software.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
- Must meet company minimum driving standards.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
