As an Appliance Technician, you will perform preventive maintenance, warranty repairs, and general service repairs on commercial cooking, ware washing, and other kitchen equipment in restaurants, hotels, nursing homes, schools, and corporate cafeterias. As a representative of IEC Services, you will uphold our high standards of customer service while helping drive operational excellence and company growth.
Job Summary
Summary
Install, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial cooking equipment — including fryers, wok ranges, griddles, ovens, steamers, holding equipment, and warewashing/dishwashing equipment — at convenience store, quick-serve, and full-service restaurant customer sites, as well as hotels, nursing homes, schools, and corporate cafeterias. Work involves gas, electric, and mechanical systems, and is performed both on scheduled preventive-maintenance visits and emergency service calls.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair gas, electric, and mechanical faults on commercial cooking equipment (fryers, wok ranges/stations, griddles, broilers, ovens, steamers, holding cabinets, warewashing/dishwashing equipment, etc.)
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including fryer oil-filtration system service and burner/ignition cleaning and calibration
- Perform gas leak checks, pressure testing, and safe reconnection/relight of gas appliances after service
- Read and work from equipment wiring diagrams and manufacturer service manuals
- Order and manage parts; maintain an accurate, organized service vehicle inventory
- Complete clear, accurate work orders/tickets and communicate findings to customers and dispatch
- Respond to emergency “down equipment” calls, often in live, high-pressure kitchen environments
- Follow all safety procedures for gas, electrical, and hot-surface hazards; use lockout/tagout as required
- Represent the company professionally at customer sites, including franchise/corporate accounts with their own vendor standards
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency service, as scheduled
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 years of hands-on experience repairing commercial kitchen, HVAC, or similar mechanical/electrical equipment preferred; will train the right candidate with strong electrical/mechanical aptitude
- Working knowledge of gas and electrical systems; ability to safely test and troubleshoot both
- CFESA certification, trade school training, or equivalent military/apprenticeship experience is a plus, not required
- Valid driver's license and clean-enough driving record to be insurable on a company vehicle
- Own basic hand tools (company provides specialty diagnostic tools and vehicle)
- Comfortable using a smartphone/tablet for dispatch, work orders, and parts lookup
- Able to pass background check; food-service site access sometimes requires customer-specific badging
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift/carry up to 50 lbs; occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance
- Work in hot, humid, and fast-paced commercial kitchen environments, including near active cooking equipment
- Bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight mechanical spaces for extended periods
- Local travel between customer sites throughout the shift; occasional regional travel for training

Work Environment
This position is performed in commercial kitchens, restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and other customer locations. The role requires standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and working around electrical, gas, and mechanical equipment for extended periods.
