Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic 1st class or Journeyman Lineman to join our dynamic Storm Duty utility team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems that power communities and industries. Your expertise will ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of power distribution networks, overhead line systems, and utility electrical infrastructure. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on power line construction projects, utilizing your technical skills to keep the lights on and energy flowing seamlessly. You will operate bucket trucks, interpret electrical blueprints, and adhere strictly to safety procedures for high-voltage work while contributing to critical energy and utilities sector initiatives; locally in Maine but there is travel out of state.
Duties
- Install, repair, and maintain overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, including high-voltage electrical wiring and transformers.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics and field testing to identify faults or system inefficiencies within utility electrical systems.
- Perform relay testing, electrical safety procedures, and troubleshooting of high-voltage electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Use rigging techniques and welding skills for power line construction projects, ensuring secure connections and structural integrity.
- Read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately to guide installation and maintenance activities.
- Operate bucket trucks safely for climbing, tree trimming near power lines, and accessing elevated work sites while following PPE use protocols.
- Perform utility locating, cable installation, and electrical field testing on outdoor work sites in compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, safety inspections, and system modifications to support ongoing reliability efforts.
Skills
- Extensive experience with rigging, climbing techniques, and bucket operation in outdoor environments.
- Strong background in industrial or commercial electrician work with knowledge of high-voltage electrical wiring and low voltage systems.
- Proficiency in welding, electrical diagnostics, relay testing, and troubleshooting high-voltage electrical systems.
- Skilled in reading electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams related to utility systems.
- Familiarity with NEC standards, electrical safety procedures, PPE protocols for high-voltage work, and OSHA regulations.
- Experience working in the energy & utilities sector with a focus on power distribution systems and outdoor construction site environments.
- Ability to perform outdoor work safely while managing cabling tasks, utility locating, tree trimming near energized lines, and field service operations.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure as it relates to utility control systems is a plus.
