Job purpose

IDV USA is seeking a Software Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and integration of software solutions for military and specialty vehicle platforms. The Software Engineer will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop embedded and application-level software, support system integration activities, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong software development skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Please note that this job will be based on site in York, PA.

Duties and responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and embedded systems for vehicle platforms and related technologies.
• Develop software requirements, architecture, and design documentation.
• Participate in system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform software debugging, performance analysis, and root cause investigations.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests.
• Support vehicle testing, field demonstrations, and customer evaluations as required.
• Ensure software development activities comply with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
• Maintain configuration management and version control of software products.
• Prepare technical reports, procedures, and documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of software development experience.
• Proficiency in C, C , and/or C#.
• Experience with software development tools, debugging, and version control systems (Git preferred).
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded systems and real-time software development.
• Familiarity with CAN Bus, automotive communication protocols, or vehicle electronics.
• Experience in defense, automotive, aerospace, or industrial vehicle industries.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows development environments.
• Experience with model-based design and simulation tools.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and secure software development practices.
• Understanding of military vehicle systems and defense industry standards.

Working conditions

• Ability to work in an office, laboratory, manufacturing, and vehicle test environment.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Security Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required government security clearance.
