About the Role
IDR Technology Solutions is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support, program, and maintain enterprise-grade physical security and network systems for commercial and enterprise clients across the United States.
This is a hands-on, senior technical role working closely with field installation teams, project managers, and support staff. The ideal candidate enjoys systems thinking, troubleshooting complex environments, and taking ownership of technical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for deployed systems
- Perform system engineering and programming in coordination with field teams
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and service tickets
- Collaborate with installation teams, project managers, and support staff
- Manage manufacturer RMAs and replacement coordination
- Apply and manage system licenses
- Perform camera footage pulls and review activity logs
- Execute firmware updates and ongoing system maintenance
Systems & Technologies
- Security cameras, NVRs, cloud analytics platforms
- Access control systems
- Intercom systems
- Networks, switching, VLANs, wireless, and bridge links
- Firewalls (configuration and management)
- System diagnostics, logs, and licensing
Required Qualifications
- Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
- Professional, polite, and respectful communication style
- Comfortable working with:
- Field installation teams
- Project managers
- Technical support staff
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Willing and able to work US Eastern Time business hours (including seasonal DST)
- Background in systems engineering, networking, security platforms, or technical support
Preferred Experience
- Physical security platforms (video, access control, intercoms)
- Networking fundamentals (switching, VLANs, wireless, firewalls)
- Cloud-managed systems
- Meraki firewalls, switching, and WiFi
- Fortigate firewall deployment and management
- NVRs and camera systems
- Access control and intercom programming
- CCNA or equivalent certifications
Training & Growth
IDR Technology Solutions provides training on supported systems and platforms. Engineers are expected to participate in training and pursue relevant certifications as part of long-term growth.
