Duties to Include:
- Perform ultrasounds: Operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment to create sonograms of the female reproductive organs and to monitor fetal development during pregnancy.
- Patient care: Obtain patient history, explain procedures, assist patients with positioning, and provide emotional support and clear communication throughout the exam.
- Image management: Capture and store high-quality images, and maintain records of all procedures and findings in electronic health records (EHR).
- Physician collaboration: Review images for potential abnormalities and communicate a summary of findings to physicians and other healthcare providers, while understanding that they are not legally permitted to make a diagnosis themselves.
- Equipment maintenance: Ensure the ultrasound equipment is in good working order, calibrate it as needed, and arrange for necessary repairs.
- Procedure preparation: Consult with the physician to understand the specific needs for a scan, prepare the room with the correct equipment, and handle any related administrative tasks like billing.
