Brief Description
The Pharmacist in Charge will work to develop and implement strategies to ensure & improve operational excellence and compliance as well as provide outstanding customer service within La Farmacia. As Pharmacist in Charge, you have one of the most significant roles in our company delivering our purpose, modeling our values, and demonstrating genuine, authentic care for our patients. In addition to leading and directing our Pharmacy Staff, comprised of both staff Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, you are accountable for the management, oversight, and operation of all aspects within our pharmacy.
Responsibilities
o Provide supervision for the dispensing pharmacy.
o Monitor industry, regulatory and compliance industry, regulatory and compliance developments (e.g., state Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, etc.) for pending regulatory changes and partner with Division Compliance Officer and pharmacy management to address them.
o Communicate and educate staff on pharmacy-related issues such as regulatory changes/compliance, FDA drug recalls, drug information, sample medications, and investigational studies
o Implement quality assurance programs for pharmacy services crafted to supervise and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care, pursue opportunities to improve patient care, and resolve identified problems.
o Implement policies and procedures for the procurement, storage, security and disposition of drugs and devices.
o Maintain record of all required pharmacist licensure & technician registrations for current staff, as required by state law.
o Maintains records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
o Respond to the board regarding any warning notice issued by the Board.
o Implement policies and procedures for maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of prescription information and patient health care information, and ensures that all employees of the pharmacy read, sign, and comply with the established policies and procedures.
o Ensure La Farmacia is in compliance with all local, state, and federal accrediting rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy
o Serve as a primary source of information and responds to internal and external customer questions or clarification of information.
o Analyzes prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
o Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
Pharmacist in Charge Top Skills & Proficiencies
o Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm. D. degree
o Active Registered Pharmacist (RPh) License in Louisiana
o At least two (2) Years of Related Pharmacy Management Experience
o Up-to-date knowledge of pharmaceutical technology and databases
o Knowledge of State and Federal Laws and Regulations Pertaining to the Legal Operation of a Pharmacy
o Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Abilities
o Demonstrate Analytical, Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills
o Managing Processes
o Quality Focus
