Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Insurance Agent role based in Lafayette, LA. The Insurance Agent will meet with prospective and existing clients to assess their coverage needs, explain policy options, and provide clear, accurate information on auto, home, and business insurance products. Daily responsibilities include preparing quotes, comparing coverage from multiple carriers, processing applications, and assisting with policy changes, renewals, and basic claims support. The role also involves proactively following up with leads, maintaining client relationships, and identifying opportunities to improve coverage or close gaps. The Insurance Agent will document all interactions in agency systems, collaborate with team members to resolve complex questions, and uphold regulatory and company compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Sales and Insurance, with the ability to explain coverage options clearly and ethically and match products to client needs.
- Experience or familiarity with Insurance Brokerage and working with multiple carriers to compare quotes and coverage terms.
- Basic understanding of Finance principles related to premiums, deductibles, underwriting factors, and risk, with the ability to discuss affordability and value.
- Proven Customer Service skills, including active listening, follow-through, and a professional, respectful approach with a diverse client base.
- State of Louisiana Property & Casualty insurance license (or ability to obtain within a defined time frame).
- Comfort using agency management systems and standard office software to manage leads, policies, and documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or relevant certifications in insurance or finance are beneficial.
