Position Summary
The forklift operator will stage, load, and unload finished product and raw materials and stock and identify warehouse inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Able to recognize and identify product and raw materials
- Completing damage reports
- Assisting in shop when necessary
- Packaging finished products for shipping (shrink wrapping, boxing, labeling)
- Staging finished products for loading
- Loading finished products onto truck
- Unloading raw materials from truck
- Moving raw materials to warehouse storage
- Supplying carpenters with necessary materials
- Moving waste from assembly line to dumpsters
- Being responsible for quality control
- Operating within standard operating procedures and Job Safety Analysis
- Operating forklift, truck
- Completing forklift daily logs
- Performing preventive maintenance on forklift
- Communicating with operators from other shifts and department
- Cleaning and maintaining work area
- Turning off and locking out equipment when not in use
- Performing back-up for assemblers
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum consecutive 3 years of related experience working in similar industry; additional education may be substituted for years of work experience
- Forklift certification
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
- Ability to be a team player and meet deadlines

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to plant environment to include moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. Safety Glasses must be worn at all times. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
