Position Summary
The Laser Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining industrial laser equipment used to precisely cut and process plastic components for aerospace applications. This position requires strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety, and production standards.
The Laser Operator will select and run appropriate laser programs, load, and position materials, adjust machine settings as needed, inspect finished parts, and perform routine equipment checks. The role is performed in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where accuracy and consistency are essential.
Schedule: Monday–Friday
- 1st Shift: 5:30 AM–2:00 PM
- 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM–11:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate industrial laser equipment to process plastic components according to production requirements.
- Follow work instructions, production drawings, and established operating procedures.
- Select and run the appropriate laser programs for each job.
- Load, position, and secure materials in the laser equipment.
- Monitor machine operation and adjust maintain consistent quality.
- Inspect parts to ensure lighting and dimensional requirements are met.
- Perform touch-up and finishing work to eliminate light leaks and meet product specifications.
- Identify and report quality issues, equipment concerns, or production problems.
- Complete required production paperwork and documentation accurately.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience operating industrial laser equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow production drawings and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Ability to accurately complete production records and paperwork.
- Good vision, either natural or corrected, is required.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining production and quality standards.
Working Conditions
This position is performed in a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to:
- Chemicals and manufacturing fumes
- Machine and facility noise
- Heat and cold
- Extended periods working in a dark room environment.
- Industrial equipment and manufacturing processes
Employees are expected to follow all required safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for approximately 50% of the workday.
- Ability to frequently lift and handle materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with machine operation and finishing work.
