Forklift Operator / Cherry Picker

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator / Cherry Picker to join our dynamic warehouse team. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and management of materials within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in heavy equipment operation, warehouse management systems, and materials handling, contributing to smooth shipping and receiving processes. Responsibilities

• Operate various types of forklifts, including reach trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, clamp trucks, and pallet jacks, to load, unload, and transport materials safely and efficiently.
• Utilize cherry pickers to accurately pick orders in high shelving areas, ensuring correct items and quantities are selected.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety protocols during all equipment operation.
• Assist with warehouse management system entries for inventory tracking, order picking, and shipping documentation.
• Perform routine inspections and minor repairs on equipment to ensure optimal functioning and safety.
• Support warehouse distribution activities by organizing stock locations and managing storage space effectively.
• Participate in shipping and receiving tasks, verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders.
• Handle heavy lifting requirements with proper techniques to prevent injury and ensure safety.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and improve materials handling processes.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and report any discrepancies or damages promptly.

Experience

• Proven experience operating forklifts such as reach trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, clamp trucks, or similar heavy equipment within a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and order processing.
• Prior experience in order picking using specialized equipment like pickers or other automated systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations related to forklift operation and materials handling safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic math calculations relevant to inventory counts and measurements.
• Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment repair and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of warehouse distribution processes including shipping & receiving procedures.
• Previous experience working under the supervision of a warehouse manager or supervisor is preferred.
