State of Idaho Opportunity

Criminal Investigator, Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU), Criminal Law Division, OAG Closing Date: Open until filled. Start Date: To be determined upon hire. Salary: $44.23/hour DOE

The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) is currently accepting applications for a Criminal Investigator. The federally funded and mandated MFCU is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to protecting vulnerable individuals and safeguarding the finite resources on which they depend. This position is responsible for conducting complex criminal investigations involving Medicaid provider fraud, patient abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. Investigations often involve multi-agency coordination, detailed evidence analysis, and preparation for prosecution.

Primary duties include:

Conducting interviews.

Obtaining and analyzing electronic files and other evidence.

Serving subpoenas.

Obtaining and executing search warrants.

Preparing reports and exhibits.

Maintaining investigative case files.

Testifying in court.

Interfacing with other law-enforcement agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current Idaho POST Certification or eligible to take the Idaho POST Challenge Exam.

Minimum education of a high-school diploma or equivalent.

At least five years of law-enforcement experience, preferably with an emphasis in investigations.

Above average communication and interpersonal skills.

A thorough understanding of laws, policies, and rules of evidence applicable to Idaho law-enforcement service.

Ability to work both independently and in a close-knit team environment with other investigators and prosecutors.

Enthusiasm for public service.

Must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check, and maintain CJIS access.

Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license and be able to drive and travel frequently, including with little or no advanced notice.

Must be willing to work flexible hours and be on-call as needed.

Any offer for employment is contingent upon the candidate’s completion of a satisfactory background investigation, which will include fingerprinting, a polygraph test, and a psychological evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related fields, such as health information management, accounting, healthcare administration, or criminal justice.

Investigative experience, preferably in Medicaid or healthcare fraud, financial crimes, or white-collar investigations.

Knowledge of state and federal laws related to Medicaid, healthcare fraud, and abuse.
