What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Attorney position at Idaho State Public Defender?
The Idaho State Public Defender (SPD) is a newly created state agency that provides trial representation to indigent criminal defendants pursuant to Idaho Code §§ 19-6005, 19-6009 (effective 10/1/24). The SPD is responsible for all indigent defense cases throughout the State of Idaho, including both juveniles and adults.
The SPD is looking for a Staff Attorney to work with the agency administration to identify, research, and litigate legal issues impacting SPD clients. The Staff Attorney will maintain current knowledge of legal issues of importance to the agency and keep current on policy development and best practice models relating to indigent defense – and do related work as required.
Advanced legal research and writing skills are preferred.
