Position Summary
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for generating new truckload brokerage opportunities through outbound prospecting, relationship building, and account development. This role is ideal for a motivated logistics sales professional who thrives in a high-activity environment and wants to help build a growing brokerage from the ground up.
The BDR will focus on shorter-cycle transactional freight with the goal of developing long-term, repeat customers. You’ll work closely with operations leadership to ensure a seamless handoff from sale to execution and long-term account growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new truckload brokerage opportunities through outbound calling, email, LinkedIn, and other digital channels
- Prospect, qualify, and convert new customers across multiple verticals (manufacturing, food & beverage, packaging, industrial, etc.)
- Build a pipeline of spot and transactional freight with a focus on repeatable lanes and long-term relationships
- Partner closely with operations to ensure strong service execution and customer retention
- Maintain accurate activity, pipeline, and customer data within the TMS/CRM
- Continue post-sale relationship development to expand share of wallet
- Collaborate with leadership on pricing strategy, lane development, and market intelligence

Required Experience & Qualifications
- 3 years of logistics or truckload brokerage sales experience
- Proven experience generating business through outbound prospecting
- Familiarity with truckload pricing, market dynamics, and customer expectations
- Proficient with basic office tools and transportation management systems
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required)
Work Environment
- Office-based or remote role with significant time spent on phone and computer
- Primarily sedentary work with standard office equipment
- Collaborative team environment with leadership access and visibility
