You will work closely with our medical team to ensure seamless patient care and timely workup/documentation. The ideal candidate will be someone who excels under pressure, manages time effectively, and adapts quickly to changing situations.
Brief Job Description:
Review chart notes to confirm treatment plan, obtain visual acuity and intraocular pressure using our iCare and Tonopen devices, input systemic medications, review medical and surgical history and obtain history of present illness. Review and document pertinent ophthalmic symptoms, review intake paperwork and transfer to our electronic health record system. Triage patient clinical phone calls and direct questions to the appropriate staff members. Prepare the patient for intraocular injections and act as a float for the scribes/nurses to assist with procedures when necessary. Using critical thinking skills to determine if the patient requires a detailed dilated examination by the doctor. Obtain clear and detailed Optical Coherence Tomography images and Fundus/Fluorescein Angiography images. Complete all cleaning, sterilization, and any additional down duties when the clinic is not active. Facilitate effective communication with all staff members and practice efficient patient flow methods. Demonstrate knowledge with retinal diseases and disorders, provide basic answers to patient concerns and direct detailed concerns to the appropriate staff members. This position is primarily independent with collaboration alongside other technicians and scribes and does not involve helping the physician with procedures/scribing.

- Proficiency in computer applications (e.g. EHR, systems, google docs/sheets, electronic data capture systems, connecteam, slack)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- OSHA and HIPAA compliant
Requirements:
- Optometry/Ophthalmology experience preferred
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Familiarity with HIPAA practices
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask
- Must be patient-care oriented
