Position Summary
Novus is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Upper School Mathematics Teacher to join our faculty in the 2026-2027 school year. This individual will teach mathematics using a classical, teacher-led, Socratic approach. The successful candidate will support the school's mission by fostering intellectual rigor and moral virtue in students to lead them toward responsible citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Mathematics: Instruct students in Pre-Algebra and Algebra I courses per the Hillsdale K-12 Scope and Sequence.
- Classical Instruction: Utilize teacher-led, Socratic approaches to instruction that cultivate discussion, reflection, and intellectual engagement.
- Character Formation: Incorporate lessons of virtue, civic responsibility, and thoughtful patriotism into daily instruction.
- Communication: Communicate regularly with colleagues, parents, and community members in support of the school's mission and vision.
- School Community Participation: Participate in the life of the school community, including opportunities for professional learning and school wide events.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in mathematics or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in algebra.
- Commitment to the aims and approaches of American classical education.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to foster an orderly, disciplined, joyful, and respectful classroom culture.
