Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION

Function as a Shift Supervisor for authorizing and monitoring work performed in assigned facility.

Oversee operation activities to ensure the facility is operated safely and in full compliance with all laboratory requirements, federal and state regulations, orders, and permits.

Maintain accountable for asset management and budgeting to ensure facility, equipment, and operating procedures are adequate and ready to carry out the SMC mission.

Support compliance to programs such as ISMS, Contractor Assurance Program, Quality Assurance Program, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance.

Lead assigned crew to accomplish production tasks while complying with applicable environmental, safety, health, security, and quality requirements for the SMC Project.

Manufacture a high-quality product while maintaining a safe work environment.

Ensure the manufacturing equipment is operated within the safety design basis and environmental permits.

Ensure compliance and adherence to safety isolation control procedure. Ensure thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to the standards of Conduct of Operations.

Train and motivate subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

Ensure the principles of the Integrated Safety Management System (ISM) are applied to all work.

Ensure the documentation of a well-trained and qualified work force.

Exercise discretion and independent judgment in performance of traditional management duties including selecting and training employees, work assignments, pre/post-job briefings, walkdowns, coaching, motivation, disciplining, problem solving, performance appraisals, and salary and merit/promotion considerations.

Exercise leadership by providing clear directions, empowering employees, properly delegating responsibilities, recognizing and acknowledging contributions of

others.

Assume the roll as a Facility Area Supervisor (FAS), maintaining full responsibility for all aspects of the application of a Lockout/Tagout in your area.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in a related field with four or more years relevant experience in an operations facility or 12 years relevant experience in lieu of the bachelor's degree.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “Q” which requires US Citizenship.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required. Working Conditions

Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. The noise level is generally moderate. Periodic travel required in normal course of job performance. Periodic safety training is necessary. Position may work irregular shifts of more than 8 hours/day and work alone.
