The Ice Cream Warehouse Lead oversees daily warehouse operations for frozen products, ensuring accurate receiving, storage, inventory control, and shipping. This role provides leadership to warehouse associates, enforces food safety and cold-chain standards, and supports efficient material flow to meet production and distribution requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Operational Oversight
- Coordinate receiving, staging, and shipping of ice cream products and raw materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper rotation (FIFO) in cold storage.
- Verify documentation for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance of warehouse associates.
- Train team members on SOPs, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Enforce HACCP, SQF, and FDA standards for food safety and cold-chain integrity.
- Maintain clean, organized warehouse areas and ensure proper PPE usage.
- Conduct routine audits of storage conditions and documentation.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to transport ingredients, packaging, and finished goods.
- Load and unload trailers efficiently while ensuring product integrity and proper documentation.
- Support staging and movement of materials to maintain smooth production and shipping flow.
- Oversee safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Report and coordinate maintenance for equipment repairs.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and logistics teams to meet scheduling demands.
- Communicate inventory status and operational updates to supervisors.
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent work related experience.
- 2 years in warehouse operations.
- Prior lead or supervisory experience required.
- Familiarity with cold storage operations and food safety standards.
- Knowledge of inventory control systems, ERP software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Environmental exposure to warehouses stored at ambient (60-70° F), refrigerated (35° F), and frozen (minus 20° F) temperatures.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.
- Subject to up to at least 92db’s
- Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
